I think Galatians 5:1 says it best. "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

I also grew up in a Christian family, so of course, I thought I was good and I thought that simply following what the Bible says as a set of rules was enough for me to go to heaven.

I didn't realise that simply following the Law did not made me good person. Instead, it became a burden because I knew that I couldn't follow every single rule to perfection. But it was this exact burden and shame that brought me to Jesus. The Law showed me my imperfectness and my need of a Saviour.

So instead of being burdened by the yoke of slavery brought about by my want to follow the law, I now carry the yoke of Jesus Christ who called me to come to Him, to carry His yoke which is easy and light, as He takes mine. :D
