EBONY, 4th YEAR, ENGINEERING DESIGN

As an introvert, I spend a lot of time in my head but I’ve always had an affection for people.

Somewhere along the line, this turned into a desire to ‘people please’, and desperate attempts not to offend!

In getting to know more about Jesus (and in turn, myself) I learned I was harbouring pride- essentially BIG ‘main character’ energy. I wanted so desperately to control every situation and to ensure ‘good’ outcomes- whatever I deemed them to be.

The message of Jesus shows me: I am not in control, and in fact, I wasn’t designed to be... and that’s liberating!

Now I’m committed to daily surrender of this desire to be in control to a God who truly loves me, and displayed the greatest act of humility I’ve ever known:

“Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.” Philippians‬ ‭2:6-8
