I’ve probably called myself a Christian my whole life. I grew up in a Christian family I went to church on a Sunday and ultimately I guess I thought I was one, but I think it’s probably only in the last 18 months that I’ve known God truly and my life has developed as a result of that.

In the past despite labelling myself as a Christian, I was a wreck. My life was a slave to the rat race: the grades, the likes, the human gratification; the relationships that we spend our entire lives seeking. Yet no matter how hard I tried my entire life to push God away, He still held out for me. He was still there when it wasn’t easy to be there, and He was still there when He had no obligation to be there, that’s probably when I started to take Him more seriously and after a while I began to grasp just how much God loves me.

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15 v13) These are the words of Christ himself and if this was Christ’s opinion then to me it’s clear exactly why He laid down His life for His friends: because He loved them.

God loves me so much that despite me turning my back on Him and deserving the penalty for it - death; He sent His son to die in my place and by resurrecting after death, allowed me to have a relationship with Him for eternity. He took the punishment that was deserved for me and He did it because He loves me. I guess I think that’s pretty amazing.
