Tom // 3rd Year // Neuroscience

I’ve spent much of my adult life grappling with theological questions, namely whether God was really that great-a-bloke, and if not, did I really want to follow God with all I have.

Over the last year I’ve explored God’s character through time in nature, conversations and bible reading. As I spent even small amounts of time wrestling with scripture, I saw God’s consistent working to break down exploitative and oppressive social structures. The Jesus that I saw was one who comforts those who need it and challenges those who need challenging.

A messy accommodation situation taught me the truth in the quote “Our hearts are restless until they find rest in You” –St Augustine. While living in a predicament where I struggled to find rest and comfort in the form of space, I felt increasingly restful through engaging with God.

“The father judges, the spirit convicts, and we’re just here to love people” - So this is me; trying to love people as best I can; loving life and being excited by what the Narrator of it all is doing; seeking and loving a God who wants relationship with me, no matter the state of me that comes to Him.
