Damisi

Damisi // Second year // Medicine

Although both my parents are Christians, I never really went to Christian ‘camps’ or events outside of church. It’s quite easy to go with the flow and never really think about what exactly you believe in.
I used to think that a lot of Christians were super judgemental and never seemed have any problems at all, but I quickly realised this wasn’t the case when I arrived in Bristol.

Coming to university and meeting real people with real faith as well as real struggles was super refreshing and led me to consider what it means to be a Christian in more depth than before. I think seeing others live out their faith and remain joyful despite difficulties in their personal lives was a real inspiration. People didn’t make it out as if it was all sunshine and rainbows, or that every problem they had was instantly solved, but had a confidence and joy that they could rely on Jesus when the going got tough. It truly struck me that people didn’t hide their reality, but faced it with the knowledge that they had a friend right beside them.
